About the B.Pharm Programme
Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) is an 4 years undergraduate Course focused on the properties and impacts of pharmaceutical drugs. The programme prepares students to develop the necessary skills to counsel patients about medications and the use of drugs. The curriculum of Bachelor of pharmacy Course at Usha Martin University is designed according to Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) the statutory body governing the pharmacy profession in India.
The major subjects which are taught during B.Pharm are Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacognosy, and Pharmacology. The course equips students with a profound understanding of human anatomy, drug dosage, drug action and reaction, and active ingredients used in the formulation of the drugs and how to maintain their quality in the storage.
Besides, the programme also concentrates on preparing the students and training them for industry-ready holistic pharmaceutical care in the practice setting. The industrial visits and equally important practical sessions ensure students receive perfect exposure to real-world situations while learning.
Faculty of Pharmacy
The Faculty of Pharmacy was established in 2020, under the aegis of Usha Martin University. It runs three programmes: Diploma in Pharmacy – two years programme with 3 months of mandatory training, Bachelor of Pharmacy – four years programme, and B. Pharm Lateral Entry – two years of D. Pharm continued with the last three years of the B.Pharm programme.
The main objective of the programmes is to meet the demand of well qualified personnel in the present time in the field of Pharmacy. These personnel would be able to not only skillfully tackle the challenges on the practical front but also explain the conceptual rationale behind any problem or situation pertaining to the healthcare field. In order to carve the aspiring students, the faculties keep themselves equipped with knowledge and updated through several programmes like Faculty Development Programme, Quality Improvement Programme etc.
The faculty normally work on the activities that are required and guided by the PCI to promote the students’ interest, also imbibe and sustain the learnings of the curriculum by the students. Examples of such activities are- seminars, workshops, educational tours to hospitals, botanical parks, Pharmacy day celebration etc. Along with academic endeavors, the Department is engaged in extracurricular and cultural activities designed to holistically hone students’ personality. The faculty is determined to develop in students the analytical approach to foresee the opportunities in every challenge and ability to conquer them.
The campus’s overall ambiance is marked by tranquility, which is conducive to intellectual pursuits. The campus is spread over 34 acres, with buildings and infrastructure that meet the norms and standards of the Pharmacy Council of India. In brief, our goal is to establish a world-class pharmacy faculty that will educate future researchers to give the best possible pharmaceutical care to the community.

After successfully completing the B Pharma programme, the students should be able to:
- Discuss the basic principles of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmaceutics, Pharmacology and Pharmacognosy for drug discovery and formulation development.
- Describe formulation parameters in manufacturing of a drug, storage, packaging and dispensing of dosage forms.
- Explain the basic principles for drug analysis through conventional methods and modern sophisticated instruments like HPLC, HPLC-MS/MS, HPTLC, FTIR, IR, GC, DSC etc.
- Use the knowledge of drug chemistry and its structure for synthesis of drug and drug designing using modern software.
- Explain crude drug, its identification, extraction and purification for its medicinal value.
- Assess the pharmacological action of drugs and evaluate their therapeutic effectiveness.
- Carry out the documentation, quality control and quality assurance of all the processes and pharmaceutical formulations.
- Critically discuss the concepts and practices of biostatics, novel drug delivery systems, molecular modeling, pharmcovigillence, Pharma management etc as per the need of industry and future prospects.

- The candidate must have completed 12th exam in the science stream with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Mathematics as compulsory subjects.

Candidates who wish to apply online can fill up Application form by clicking “APPLY ONLINE” link on website and payment can also be made online through Debit card, Credit Card and Internet Banking.
Note: Those who are not able to make the online payment can send the payment to the University through a DD of Rs. 500/- in favour of Usha Martin University payable at Jharkhand.
Offline Applications:
Candidates can download the Form from website. If the Application Form is downloaded from the website, the applicants are required to enclose a Demand Draft of `500/- in favour of Usha Martin University, Jharkhand, payable at Jharkhand along with the Application Form, failing which the application shall be rejected.
A duly filled Application Form must be delivered in person or sent through registered post/ speed post/ reputed courier service to ensure that the application form is received by the University within the specified time and date. The form can also be sent to the city office mentioned on the website
Candidates can also collect Application Form from University campus and its selected Branches Offices as mentioned
Note:
After receiving the application form, the candidates will be informed by the University officials within 7 working days, and the information about admission (Through Entrance Exam or Merit Basis) will be intimated to candidates accordingly.
- If a student admitted to the institute is found to have given any false information or suppressed any material information, his/her admission will be cancelled, and fees will not be refunded.
- Cost of application fee once paid is non-refundable.
- The institute does not take responsibility for the delay in transit involved in receipt and delivery of any communication between the institute and the applicant.
- All disputes are subject to the legal jurisdiction of District Ranchi, Jharkhand, (India).
- Those who are given provisional admission due to non-declaration of their graduation result are required to submit the marks sheet up to 31st October 2021.
- Students must follow all the rules and regulations, framed from time to time by the institute. Breach of any of these may render him/her liable for penalty under the rules and/or expulsion from the institute
The University reserves the right to alter the course content of the programmes, rules and regulations, teaching schedule, tuition fee payable, boarding and lodging fees and/or any other matter pertaining to its working. The Management’s decision will be deemed as final in all such matters.
- The minimum qualification for admission to first semester of Bachelor of Pharmacy four year’s (Eight semester) course shall be the passing of 10+2 examination or any other equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Biology conducted by the Jharkhand Board of Secondary Education or any other board or university examination recognized as equivalent by the State Government of Jharkhand.
- Minimum qualification for direct admission to second year of B. Pharma. shall be first division in Diploma in Pharmacy from any institution approved by the Pharmacy Council of India. (P.C.I.).
